Simply put, we want to help farmers, producers, artisans and manufacturers in the Global South raise themselves out of poverty.
It is not unique to us but our view is that the best way way to help people do this is to offer them trade not aid.
Sometimes, communities are so damaged by war, natural disasters, corruption or ideology that aid is the only option for helping them.
The problem with Aid, though, is that it builds dependency and rarely achieves long-term sustainable results. The sooner aid migrates to trade the better.
There are many steps in the trade journey from planted seed to product on the shelf but all those steps are basically paid for out of the proceeds of the final sale. That is where we come in. We aim to offer a shop window for the goods produced in the Global South (and elsewhere).
Our website is the place where ethical producers and consumers can meet. The money that we make by selling Fairly Traded goods helps us keep operating but it also provides the cash that keeps the pipeline of goods flowing.
